Together We Learn

Together We Learn provides an opportunity for Dallas-area youth to dialogue with and learn from Dallas law enforcement to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community and educate teens on how to interact with officers.

A signature program created by Pastor Butler and Sergeant Sheldon Smith of DPD, the workshop includes classroom instruction with mock simulations.

Students who attend Together We Learn will:

  • Receive instruction from Dallas police officers on how to act and react during traffic or pedestrian stops
  • Engage in mock traffic stop scenarios with members of Dallas Police Department
  • Have lunch with officers

Together We Learn is presented on a regular schedule during the school year at area high schools and churches. Past partners have included the Black Police Association of Greater Dallas, United Way Dallas, Dallas Independent School District, St. Paul UMC and Sewell Lexus Dallas.
